After realising I couldn’t keep grinding away forever, I went all-in on learning from people who had real-world success. I started looking for those who had already built the kind of business and life I wanted.
I discovered something crucial along the way. Success Leaves Clues. The successful business owners I studied didn’t necessarily work harder than anyone else; they worked smarter. They followed certain principles and strategies that anyone could apply, if you were willing to listen, learn, and take action.
That was a game-changer for me. I realised I didn’t need to reinvent the wheel or figure it all out by trial and error. What I needed was to replicate the systems and strategies that had already worked for others, and more importantly, I had to execute on that knowledge fast. Ideas and information are useless unless you put them into practice.
So, I committed to blending my dad’s relentless work ethic with modern, smarter business strategies. While his generation focused on working hard, I knew that wasn’t enough for me. I needed to work on the business, not just in it. I started studying systems, automation, and process improvement, learning how to set up a business that could run without me being there every second of the day.
This was where I realised the power of leadership and delegation. I had to become a leader in my business, not just a manager of day-to-day tasks. That meant putting the right people in the right positions and trusting them to do the job. But it also meant creating a system where they could succeed, a system that would keep running smoothly whether I was physically there or not.
Over the next decade, I invested heavily in personal development, coaching, and mentorship. I spent what some might call a small fortune, but it was the best investment I ever made.
Why? Because I wasn’t just buying knowledge, I was buying back my time. Instead of spending years trying to figure it all out the hard way, I paid to compress that learning curve and fast-track my business success.
Through coaching, I learned how to leverage what others had already perfected. It wasn’t just about building processes; it was about mastering the mindset that allowed me to scale. I surrounded myself with people who had already achieved what I was aiming for, and I asked a ton of questions. I also made sure I was putting everything I learned into action as quickly as possible. There’s no point in gaining knowledge if you’re not applying it.
The combination of strategic learning, personal growth, and leadership development transformed how I approached business. I went from being the guy who had to do everything, to someone who could step back and let the systems and the team do the heavy lifting. I shifted from just working hard to working smart, building a business that worked for me, not the other way around.
This journey wasn’t quick, and it wasn’t easy. But by investing in myself and the business, I bought back the most valuable resource there
is - time. I learned how to get off the tools, stop being a slave to the business, and build something sustainable that gave me both
financial success and the freedom to live the life I’d always dreamed of.
I have been running my business for 10 years and after watching Tas’ webinar, I have come to realise the importance of measuring all the different aspects of the business to find out what is working and what’s not.

As
an industry peer, Tas is a man I trust and respect. I even call him for advice from time-to-time. I strongly
recommend any painter to speak to him in getting their systems in place.

I
had the opportunity to sit in and take part in one of Tas’ webinars. I’m just over a year into my painting business
and the information that Tas has shared has opened my thinking to a place that changes the game entirely! I was able
to see that I was marketing to the wrong crowd and reevaluate the direction that I wished to specialise in thanks to
his help.
